Experience a virtual camp-themed weekend like no other, April 23-25th at Camp Yampire! We're combining Zoom and Topia.io to learn, move, play, create, and listen to live music with campers from around the world, hosted by Yam, Pie, & amazing guest camp counselors from across the nation for Camp Yampire: Virtual Travelers! ✈

All "Zoomed" out from 2020? No worries, come join us in our virtual space on Topia - happening simultaneously with our sessions on Zoom - and chat, play games, and relax with fellow campers nearby thanks to spatial audio and video! After exploring on Topia, pop back to zoom anytime to catch a travel-themed session from our excellent community of talented and knowledgeable guest camp counselors at Camp Yampire: Virtual Travelers!

"Virtual Travelers" camp weekend is a celebration of all things travel and the tremendous diversity of our world. Although it's not quite safe for everyone to travel in person yet, we're going places in our virtual spaces! We have an excellent lineup of nearly 90 interactive travel-themed activities over the weekend, with something new happening every thirty minutes!

Open to all ages but centered towards adults and traditional summer camp, at our camp weekends activities range from painting, baking, video games, workouts, and language classes, to easy crafts, live music, happy hours and self-care sessions, trivia nights, scavenger hunts, glow dance parties, e-smores, and more! Self-isolation and social distancing are still very much a thing for 2021, and we've got your back.

Treat Camp Yampire like a festival, with multiple workshops and sessions going on in Zoom breakout rooms at the same time - visit any or all, and stay as long as you'd like. With the 2021 addition of Topia, campers can now experience whole new levels of immersion, walking around and interacting with whimsical elements on our campground map, then popping back and forth between Zoom & Topia with the click of a mouse.

Your camp counselors, Yam & Pie, are online from 6PM-11PM EDT on Friday, 1PM-12AM EDT on Saturday, and 1PM-10PM EDT on Sunday, with a new activity to immerse yourself in every half-hour.

Our main events for Camp Yampire: Virtual Travelers include a Through the Ages Glow Dance Party, Animated International Short Film Festival, Travel-Themed Indoor Scavenger Hunt, Travel Trivia Gauntlet, Heart to Heart Happy Hours, Wanderlust: Chose Your Own Adventure Stories, Share Your Vacation Slides, AirConsole Community Games, Paint and Sip:Travel Edition, an Indiana-Jones style CYOA Movie, Campfire Storytelling: Traveler's Tales, Topia Training, a 1920's Murder Mystery Party, virtual visits to Portugal, Madagascar, NYC, Thailand, Mexico, Iceland, Australia, Argentina, Italy, Japan, Antarctica, Peru Morocco, and France, and SO...MUCH...MORE!

Since this weekend is travel-themed, we are going places in our virtual spaces with "Virtual Visits" in the Zoom clubhouse! You can also catch these visuals in our Topia space, too, so don't worry if you're heading to a GCC session.
Campers are encouraged to join a virtual visit for a country they are interested in learning more about, and/or share their travel stories if they have visited or lived there. Join us at 8:30pm EDT on Friday, April 23rd for, "We're All Time Travelers Here."
Part interactive game you play, using your phone as a controller, part photo-sharing & storytelling hour, join us to share moments captured by film of your own travels and tell the stories that lay within them. Not comfortable sharing personal photos? No worries, you can always share a picture of your dog, a quote that inspires you, or an image of a city you'd like to travel to someday.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Make sure to collect/download some favorite photos of your travels on your phone you feel comfortable sharing with fellow campers before the game begins, as there is limited time to submit a photo. Photos can be from the past, the present, or you can even choose to share travel photos from generations past! You will need a phone (tablets and other devices work, too) to play.

Can we even call it a camp weekend at Camp Yampire if we don't include a high-energy glow dance party on the schedule?! Join us at 10pm EDT on Friday, April 23rd for our "Through the Ages" glow dance party!
The world is in a dark place right now - let's literally bring our collective lights together this Friday to dance the night away, spread positive energy, and cultivate joy through movement in our virtual space, that's sure to spill out into your own homes afterwards. Don't feel like showing off your dance moves? No worries, mics and cameras are optional at all Camp Yampire events.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
If you have some glow sticks, party lights, fun costumes, or glowing virtual backgrounds, now's the time to bring them to the party!

Tea & Train Travel with Bevs!

What is a train ride but a chance for an epic adventure as you travel to wonderful new places? Grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage and learn about famous train routes around the world, see the history of trains, and share your travel stories of riding on a train - whether it's a long distance voyage, or a subway ride to work - with Bevs!

MATERIALS NEEDED:
Bring your favorite tea(s) to drink. If you have train travel stories and photos, bring them to share!

“Wok Talk” with Wenqi!

Have you seen cooking done with a wok and wondered about the techniques used to make the delicious foods within? Do you have a wok at home and would like to learn more about it? Are you interested in purchasing a wok, but would like to find out what the pros use? Learn the basics for purchasing, using, and maintaining a wok at “Wok Talk” with Wenqi!

MATERIALS NEEDED:
If you already have a wok at home, or have favorite recipes to share, feel free to bring them!

Sea Shanties & Boisterous Songs with Fred Schuepfer!

Calling all able-bodied seafarers and landlubbers! Sign up for a half-hour voyage on an exciting visit to "Sea Shanties and Boisterous Singing," where you’ll get in touch with your inner swabby or first mate. Your navigator, Fred Schuepfer, will help you get your sea legs by providing a basic history of the sea shanty song form, and we’ll hear one or two ballads from the likes of The Weavers and Stan Rogers. Then we’ll try singing a boisterous song or two together! A wonderful antidote to the modern world for whatever ails ye! (and a bit of ale while you belt out these tunes might be a good idea.) Even if the closest you’ve ever come to the seafaring life is your morning box of Cap’n Crunch cereal, this event will stimulate and excite you like the ocean air!

*This session will take place twice over the weekend, with different songs sung at each session.

MATERIALS NEEDED:
We will put the lyrics for these sea shanties in your camper info packet, as well as at campyampire.com/infopacket. Make sure to refer to them if you'd like to practice a shanty or two!

“A Day in Hawai’i” with Andy!

Grab a cold drink, your sunglasses, and leave your worries behind as you get ready to live your best “Aloha life” for the next half hour! Andy’s absolute favorite place in the world is Hawai’i, and he wants to bring some of that Aloha spirit to your day with stories, photos, art, ecology facts and history from the Rainbow State! It’s a time of education and relaxation. See you on the sand, campers!

MATERIALS NEEDED:
If you have been to Hawai’i, bring your photos and stories! Stories and photos from anywhere you have been in the Polynesian Triangle are welcome as well!
