Registration for Camp Yampire 8.0 was done directly through ZOOM.
Camp Yampire 8.0 was August 15th & 16th, and it was an awesome time!
Camp Yampire 8.0: August 15th & 16th
Yep, it's summer camp for adults - join the indoor whimsy revolution, streaming live from NYC!
Camp Yampire is back and more whimsical than ever! Now in its eighth session, learn, move, and play on zoom with camp counselors all across the country (and Canada) and campers from all across the globe!
Open to all ages but centered towards adults and traditional summer camp, activities range from painting, juggling, baking, video games, workouts and yoga, to mask making, live music, happy hours and self-care sessions, trivia nights, scavenger hunts, glow dance parties, e-smores, and more! We have an emphasis on "art" for 8.0, so there will be lots to create during our August session!
Treat Camp Yampire like a festival, with multiple workshops and sessions going on in breakout rooms at the same time - visit any or all, and stay as long as you'd like. Your camp counselors, Yam & Pie, are on zoom from 12PM-12AM on Saturday, and 12PM-10PM on Sunday, with something new happening every 30 minutes!
Our main events for Camp Yampire 8.0 include our Theme Night (Superheroes!), Fairy Tale Interactive Murder Mystery, Arts & Crafts Happy Hour, the return of the BIPOC Poetry Salon, Camper Kindness Exchange, Campfire Storytelling, Beach Chillout, Karaoke Roulette & Lip Sync Battle, Electro-Swing & Electronic Music Glow Dance Party, Improv with the Playback Theatre Company, and SO much more!
It's free, it's fun, it's socially-distanced summer camp at it's finest! Let's make the most of our time indoors, together.

Returning Guest Camp Counselor and civic engagement pro Maggie McBride wants to help you navigate voting in the age of Covid-19, because there's a ton of misinformation and conflicting terms floating around and it's getting confusing.
Experience a non-judgmental and easy breakdown of the most effective way to participate in our democratic process: voting! You don't want to miss this, campers!

- Paintbrushes of assorted sizes (including one you don't mind using for applying stars)
- Acrylic paint (black, navy, royal blue, turquoise, purple, yellow, white)

Returning Guest Camp Counselor and awesome individual Tim Sonnier wants to play a fun game with you called Civic Doodle, a jackbox party pack game! You will be collaborating on murals to put up around the city, one sketch at a time! It's super entertaining to play, even more fun to watch from the audience (and toss out random eggplant emojis in response to the art), and requires no artistic ability whatsoever! Let's play.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
A phone or tablet to use as your game controller.
Optional: a computer so you can see the shared screen on zoom without having to switch back and forth on zoom.

Learn how to make some amazing products using essential oils - non-toxic insect repellent, mermaid hair spray, after sun spray, and an itch stick for bug bites! It's smell-good self-care - let's create, campers!

- Mermaid hair spray: Lavender, Rosemary and Cedarwood essential oils, kosher salt.
- After Sun Spray: Lavender, Copaiba, Raven, Frankincense and Roman Chamomile essential oils, jojoba oil, Aloe juice.

Lindsey McKee: Knitting & Afternoon Tea 🧵
It's tea and knitting time! Guest Camp Counselor and professional seamstress Lindsey McKee will be in our clubhouse main room with her knitting cam on. Grab a cup of your favorite tea and talk knitting, enjoy watching the process, bring your own projects to work on, or if you need instruction, Lindsey is there to help!
MATERIALS NEEDED:
- One skein 100% cotton yarn
- Size 7 needles (or whatever size your yarn says on the label)
- Yarn needle
- Measuring tape or ruler
It's tea and knitting time! Guest Camp Counselor and professional seamstress Lindsey McKee will be in our clubhouse main room with her knitting cam on.
