Camp Yampire: Virtual State Fair!
Step right up, folks! In direct response to the cancellation of State Fairs around the country, Camp Yampire 9.0, a free, virtual summer camp for adults, brings you a Virtual State Fair experience like never before. Free to attend, and 100% virtual, we have over 150 interactive and fun events to join into over Labor Day weekend! September 5th-7th is a special "State Fair Edition" of Camp Yampire, and individuals from states around the US are volunteering their time and talent to bring the sights, sounds, smells, thrills, and excitement of the State Fair to living rooms around the world.
Rather than webinars, campers log in to visit the Camp Yampire "Midway" and pop from breakout room to breakout room, exploring activities like butter carving, pie baking, sand art, livestock viewing, aviary tours, rodeo, circus performers, carnival games and midway rides, a virtual corn maze, live music, an array of fried foods, chili cook off, and SO much more! The jam-packed weekend of interactive fun runs from 12pm-12am on Saturday, 12pm-10pm on Sunday, and 12pm-8pm on Monday, with something new happening every 30min.
Camp Yampire has a mission of being inclusive and spreading joy. Those that have volunteered their time and talent hope that by holding a Virtual State Fair on zoom, a hearty substitute can be found in response to cancellation. Fascinatingly, each camp counselor is bringing their own state's unique activity to the space, meaning we are not just re-creating the essence of one state's State Fair, but a culmination of states all over the nation, joining together over fried foods and fun.
Our main events for Camp Yampire 9.0's Virtual State Fair include: Housepet Show & Tell, Virtual Rodeo, Nickname Academy, Carnival of Kindness, A Nation of Creators: Artist Showcase, a live circus-themed murder-mystery, State Fair trivia, State Flower Art & Happy Hour, Campfire Storytelling, Scavenger Hunt: Great State Fair, Marshmallow Building Competition, Jeopardy - Name that Song Lyric!, Fair for Dayz: The Quest for the Blue Ribbon, Community Meal: Share Your Harvest, Camper Crafting Hour, State Bird Happy Hour, Awards Show & Camper Showcase, and nightly fireworks shows that culminate in glow dance parties to Latin beats and 80's jams! It's free, it's fun, it's safe and socially-distanced State Fair celebration at it's finest! Let's make the most of our time indoors, together.
*The emojis to the left and the right of our promo card activites are meant to show you the vibe of the event - challenge yourself to do one of each of these during your weekend.

Drew Gorzen's "State Fair Sand Art Workshop" (No Sand Required!)
This session takes place in two parts on both Saturday the 5th & Sunday the 6th!
PT I: 1:00PM EDT
PT II: 5:00PM EDT
For those of us who were not good at the games, the sand bottle art station was the best way to leave the fair with a souvenir!
This session will take place in 2 parts. First, we will be preparing our "colored sand" using salt & food coloring in PT I at 1:00PM EDT. The sand will need a few hours to dry, so we will come back for part II at 5:00PM EDT to create our sand art, whether it be a sand bottle, a sand painting, or any other sand craft that you'd like to do! Drew (Pine Arrow) has got your back!
MATERIALS NEEDED:
To create the sand: craft sand OR 1-2 big containers of table salt and food coloring; measuring cups, plastic gloves, & plastic bags. A medium for your art: for example, decorative bottles/jars or paper & glue. Spoons, plates/tubs, and small funnels are also helpful.
